TDM #6
Welcome! Everything is fine.
Uploading. . . Complete!
The Lobby.
- When you open your eyes, there is quite a lot of beige to take in. The unassuming walls of the room you've found yourself in are barren save for a single motivational poster directly in your line of sight. An illuminated sign above an open door on the far wall reads 'lobby exit.'
"Welcome," chimes a polite, synthesized voice. "I'm happy you're here." A moment later comes the clarity of the situation: you have died and so has the world you came from. "This is Amani, your new reality," continues The Peacekeeper. "Everything will be fine."
At least you aren't the only one here, you'll soon find out, as others who are just as confused and concerned as you are mingling on the main hub's first floor. Hopefully, you find a familiar face among the crowd. If not, that's all right. You'll get to know quite a few people very well soon enough.
- If you're one of the unlucky few whose death required a bit more intensive re-coding to maintain stability in the simulation, you'll instead awaken on a bed in the infirmary. Everything is strikingly white save for the occasional string of vines with lavender growing in bursts to help keep people calm. Whether or not it works seems to be on a case-by-case basis.
While there is active medical staff, the voice of The Peacekeeper is also there to explain the situation in a more delicate manner to these individuals. It's already stressful enough having to have gone through such a violent death, after all!
If characters want more questions answered, they'll need to speak to The Peacekeeper directly. But first, it will encourage socialization in the main hub and hopefully, you'll find someone you recognize to make taking things in a little easier.
- Throughout the main hub where everyone congregates, a light chiming echoes through the first floor. "Hello, everyone," comes the synthetic voice from when you first arrived. "Please, watch your step since there a few tremors happening. If you'd like, there is cake and some refreshments."

WHAT'S YOUR DTF STATUS?
If the main hub and its features don't appeal to you, that's perfectly fine. This is the perfect time to configure your Digitized Technical Friend or your DTF status. A DTF is similar to a dæmon from His Dark Materials in that it is connected to and a reflection of a character's soul. These DTFs take shape accordingly and are projections similar to the NPCs. Think of them as your own personal Clippy except less annoying. Hopefully.Once that's set-up, there are other locations of the main hub to investigate! You can visit the training grounds, music lounge, library, and onsen. Also, feel free to leave an offering for the resident deity of sleep (Hypnos) at his shrine! You can even visit The Peacekeeper themselves on the second floor. They're always happy to have visitors! They're also conveniently where you might place a complaint about that status of the main hub and its amenities. Even if you do complain, The Peacekeeper will encourage others to set off and find their own place to live out in the simulation.
Granted, the housing market in the afterlife isn't exactly robust. It doesn't help that every place you find has a leaky roof or broken window. No, unfortunately that will need to be fixed the peaceful way. If you'd like more lighting or even cozier clothes, simulation inhabitants are reminded that 'peaceful interactions' are very important!
It might be a good idea to stick close to someone you know, for now, since even the smallest amounts of intimacy might see subtle changes occurring where they're staying. Perhaps that broken window is now fixed, the grime and dust seem a little less, or the floor doesn't creak quite as loud.
Larger changes, however, will only come after demonstrating the more powerful peaceful interactions. If you want new hardwood floors or a fresh coat of paint on the walls, you're going to have to demonstrate how well you 'get along' with others against them first.
SHAKING THINGS UP
"Hello, inhabitants," greets The Peacekeeper. "I apologize for all the tremors lately in the simulation," it starts, just as one rattles through the setting. "I promise I'll be done working soon." They've been occurring for days now but have been nothing more than a subtle rumbling.
Until now.
"Making final geographical adjustments... Please, hold on to something." There is less than a moment's pause before the warning needs to be heeded. A large earthquake suddenly jostles the entire simulation harshly along with a deafening noise to the east; however, the cause will be apparent. Where before there was nothing but plains stretching out infinitely past the simulation's 'barrier,' there is now a large mountain range. It has snow-tipped peaks, plenty of pine trees, and- "After the trial that was Hiromitsu, The Creators decided to allow me the resources to upgrade and add to the simulation! This is only the beginning, actually, but the rest will take a little bit more time. Until then, I hope you don't mind exploring the mines and helping me test some new features."
There is a brief pause where it seems like that might be all. "And I hope that... it makes up a little for me not being there for you during Hiromitsu." The usual chipper, simulated voice sounds just a touch melancholy. Instead of the regular chimes to signify a broadcast ending, there is instead a small click and nothing but silence.

THIS PLACE ROCKS
For those that do decide to investigate the new addition to the simulation, they'll find a sign above a large cave entrance that reads "Dymuniad Mines." Entering the cave will lead people to a series of underground tunnels akin to a labyrinth with as many metaphorical twists and turns as there are literal. Don't mind the mild tremors that continue as some of the pathways shift and change while The Peacekeeper works. They are now, thankfully, localized to just the mines.
So grab a torch, go for a joy ride in a mine cart, or set out on foot through the deep dark. Either way, here's what inhabitants can expect to find...
Hemimorphite
Population: Common
Biome: Dymuniad Mines
Danger: Mild
This strange, soft-looking rock formation draws people in with a sweet scent similar to cotton candy. The closer someone draws to it, the happier they will become. Should one lick it, they will find that it tastes rather sweet; however, it will leave one with more than a candy aftertaste. It is a psychedelic that will cause hallucinations - both visual and auditory - as well as intense feelings of euphoria.
Honey Calcite
Population: Common
Biome: Dymuniad Mines
Danger: Mild
If feeling one's way along the dark tunnels, don't be surprised if there comes a spot where you suddenly stick. Trying to pull away will only find one even more stuck than before. The only way to pull free is by using heat but too hot and it'll become a sticky, syrupy mess and be a nightmare to get off. The body heat of two people seems to be just right the temperature to free anyone stuck but... make of that what you will!
Iris Agate
Population: Common
Biome: Dymuniad Mines
Danger: None
If you get a little lost in the mines, don't fret! This stone will guide your way when shone under the light correctly. Oh, it won't show you the way out. Rather, it will guide you toward someone you need to talk to. Whatever that may mean! You'll be directed towards them whether you want to actually speak or not.
Miniature Cave Golems
Population: Common
Biome: Dymuniad Mines
Danger: None
Don't be too alarmed if that mossy bundle of rocks starts to move about. Held together and animated by a magic of an unknown origin, these tiny golems 'awaken' when anyone gets close. While golems are usually used for manual labor too large for the average person, it's hard to say what these miniature ones were made for or by who. They are, however, extremely cute and will happily follow or ride along with you through the tunnels.
Rock Slimes
Population: Common
Biome: Dymuniad Mines
Danger: None
If you happen to come across small bites taken out of the Hemimorphite, the source likely isn't far behind. These slimes are immune to the psychedelic effects of the formation but still get the euphoria from it. This results in them making tiny chirps and happy noises that may sound suspiciously like 'woo hoo' or 'yay.' They are friendly and docile but can only survive in the dark, dank conditions of the mines. Trying to remove them is ill-advised.
Zubats
Population: Common
Biome: Dymuniad Mines
Danger: Mild
These creatures make their home in gloomy caves. Atrophied eyes have left this Pokémon blind, so they scan their surroundings via sound waves that they emit from their mouths as they fly. Their skin is so thin that they'll be burned if sunlight hits them. When it gets cold out, they gather together to warm one another's bodies. While they will not attack inhabitants, they may use high-pitched sound waves to confuse and disorient if they feel threatened so they can escape.

CREEPY CRAWLIES
In addition to the new geology, there is some new fauna to be found. The Peacekeeper is still adding to the mines as far as flora (beyond basic moss, mushrooms, and other fungi). For now, these creatures hopefully help it feel a little more alive.Miniature Cave Golems

WHO IS THAT I SEE, STARING BACK AT ME?
Lucky (or unlucky, if you're lost) inhabitants may find their way to the crystal lake. This large, underground pool of crystalline water is lined with large chunks of cubic fluorite and larimar covering the bottom. It holds an ethereal glow although there doesn't seem to be anything out of the ordinary that would cause the shine.
If one goes to the edge of the water, their reflection might not be what they expect. Instead of what it should be, it's instead what the person looking into the water most desires. This could be interpreted in many different ways. Do you look like you'd always dreamed of, is someone next to you, or is it someone else entirely staring back into your eyes? Whatever the case may be, it isn't always easy to be faced with our most secret desires unexpectedly.

SEXY STAMP CARD
If you're wondering about these 'peaceful interactions' that keep being mentioned or what the kinks of the month are for... Here's your answer! Upon arrival, all characters will receive a digital copy of their very own sexy stamp card.
Completing peaceful interactions (i.e. kinks) will reward characters with stamps that they can turn in for re-gains and many other things! While the example one here is the standard issued card by The Peacekeeper, players are more than welcome to customize it how they see fit. Have fun with it!NOTES

★ Due to the shifting tunnels, characters will only find themselves eventually back at the start of the mines rather than anywhere new. ...For now, anyway!
★ The effects of all the influences can, as always, be as heavy or light as you'd like! It can be chalked up to differences in resistance, non-humanity or not, etc. etc.
★ The flora and fauna page will be updated (as well as the locations) as soon as possible to reflect these changes and recent ones! It's also still open for player suggestions! All you need to do now is link your check-in (or player claim) comment to make a submission!
★ Why not check out the ATP/EMP Meme now up? See who others want to try out, enable your friends! Fun all around!

Arataki Itto || Genshin Impact
Well it seems things weren't looking up for Arataki Itto or his gang. First issue was his gang wasn't even here, that was pretty major. Second problem was he had absolutely no clue as to where he was. Apparently he was dead but he couldn't remember dying so either the peacekeeper thing was lying or he just happened to appear in some weird place.
With a shrug he decided best course of action was to investigate, figure out where some weapons are and find a way back. He made his way to the main lobby first.
After spending a good while trying to figure out what a DTF to which he still wasn't sure what it was, he finally had one. It was a one of a kind super special limited edition Red Onikabuto just like how they were back home. The bug was small and easily fit in his hand but it was his own and that's all that mattered.
"Well Crimson Cyclone, whatd'ya say we go see if we can find you some friends to battle. I bet there are a ton of beetles just waiting to battle you!" He was about to leave the lobby but noticed some food and drinks on display. "Aw man free food? But...beetle battles....but free food....." He rubbed at his head trying to decide between the two, his stomach growled. "Sorry bud, free food is calling."
Itto grabbed one of each cake since well they were free and found a table to carry them all too. "Oh man this looks tasty!"
Hemimorphite & Iris Agate
[Caves had untold riches and riches were something he lacked. So cave was the destination. Crimson Cyclone was resting on his shoulder lightingt he way into the cave. There were some cool looking monsters along the way but that's not what he wanted right now. Itto planned to find the shiniest and most goodest stones he can and turn them in for Mora...or stamps....whatever got him things. Yep, that was his full thought out plan.]
Alright Crimson, light the way bro! Lemme know if you see something worth it before I do.
[The two continued on their trip and not only spotted a shiny rock that seemed to glow but also some weird blue looking rock that smelled sweet. Itto tried to take a bite out of it but it hurt his teeth. He did like it and that was good so he broke some off to save for later, shoving the rest in his pocket.]
Wild Card
[Go wild with Itto, do whatever you like]
Hemimorphite & Iris Agate
...but the light of his torch shines upon an old friend instead! he grins, walking faster to greet him properly.]
Hey, Itto! Glad to see you again - you disappeared there for a while.
Re: Hemimorphite & Iris Agate
Whoa whoa these things glow?? Sick!
[He jumps and almost lands on his ass when someone walks over to him. He doesn't recognize them but it's dark so maybe he's just not seeing clearly]
Ah yeah it's....you....that guy, that dude, the broski........who are you again?
no subject
The name's Kaeya. You know, I generally think of myself as hard to forget, but this whole place is making me question that.
[a smile.]
Need a hand?
no subject
Ah nah no need for a hand Kaeya. You already know me somehow....I wonder how.
[He rubs at his chin and looks around the cave.]
This place is kinda spooky but hey since you know me you must be a trustworthy kinda dude. Wanna find the way out together? I got some cool rocks I'm gonna see if I can sell but I need to escape in order to do that.
no subject
[a laugh, because kaeya isn't lost, but... this could be fun to play along with.]
Yeah? You know, you could probably trade them for food and resources but that's about it. The real "currency" of this place is stamps.
no subject
Oh...I have? I don't remember it but I mean I guess you might be right?
[He takes out the rocks in his pocket and shows them to Kaeya] So you're telling me I can only get some food and stuff from these? Man that's worthless. So then how do I get stamps? What do I gotta do?

Arrival
Anika did get up and move to his table after he was quite a few bites in. Sitting down without waiting for an invitation, she leaned back and propped her feet up on a spare chair.
"How do you like the cake?"
Re: Arrival
Crimson Cyclone sat on the table and pointed to a lady who was watching him. Itto turned, face full of cake and just waved a bit confused at her before eating more. He was just about to take a bit of the chocolate cake when she interrupted him.
"It's really good and free so no argues here. Did you make it or something? You're kinda watching me intently there. This cake ain't poisoned or something is it?" Even if it was it was too late for Itto he already had two slices.
no subject
"And drugged is the better way to put it rather than poisoned. It's not going to kill you," she continued. "I've not had it myself, but others have said the cake influences you. Different effects for different flavors. But you're a big man - perhaps it won't affect you."
Her eyes trailed over him with a hint of hunger. He was a very big man. "I'm Anika, by the way."
no subject
"Huh so magic cake, well not the first time I've eaten something bad for me. As long as there is no beans I don't see any issue with it." He grins and takes a bite of the chocolate cake but quickly puts it down. He doesn't really like how that one tastes, it's too rich even for him. Well a bite shouldn't do much compared to a whole slice of the others he's already tried.
He notices her eyes scan him over but he doesn't think much of it. "Arataki Itto, the One and Oni at your service. That little guy on your hand is my best bro Crimson Cyclone."
no subject
Her eyes flickered back to him at the introduction and smiled. "An oni... That explains the splendid horns." And the aversion to beans. And his scent that she hadn't been able to place.
"You might not want to eat--" Oh he took a bite of the chocolate one before she could do him. "I'm not sure how expansive your bean restriction is but chocolate comes from cocoa beans."
no subject
Itto was busy trying to get the taste of Chocolate out of his mouth when she complimented him and he practically beamed at her. His strong hands went on the ta le as he leaned over, standing up and revealing all of his six foot three muscular frame. "You like my horns? Oh man they've never been called splendid before! Oh tell me more about what you like about them."
He was going to continue asking for more praise but his throat felt ichy, really ichy. When did it start getting hard to breathe? That's not normal. He coughed and crimson eyes widened at her words."....what..." He couched again and started to feel a little weak. "Oh...oh no. I'm fine. This..this is fine. Everything is a-okay!" He coughed and his eyes rolled back in his head as he collapsed on the table. His body sliding off to the floor.

arrival;
Seeing someone talking to themself (or maybe they're using their DTF?) isn't wholly unexpected, given the circumstances, but the moment he mentions free food, Sizhui's quick to make his way closer and pipes up, “Be careful, the cakes and drinks have some strange effects!”
Was he quick enough to stop Itto from already wolfing anything down? Perhaps not, though if he's lucky, it won't be chocolate or spice cake or red firecracker drinks, mojitos, or sangrias.
Re: arrival;
It was while he was face full of lemony cake that someone was trying to get his attention. He only noticed since Crimson Cyclone his beetle bro DTF was poking him. Itto turned, cheeks covered in crumbs and full of cake and tilted his head. He swallowed what he could and coughed a bit. "What d'ya mean they have some effects? Wait...don't tell me there are BEANS in these? They wouldn't put beans in cake right? I mean I don't know how to back but I'm pretty sure beans aren't in cakes?!?"
no subject
His own DTF has slithered up from the confines of his robe, draping across his shoulders, curling loosely around his neck, and peering intently at Itto while he's mowing down cake. Sizhui's expression has softened with realization, his brows knitted and his head faintly tipped sideways. “Well, some cakes are made with beans, but none of these are. The one you've eaten is rather safe compared to the others, thankfully.” Being cheery and having a little extra luck never hurt anybody from what he's experienced? However, if it makes someone take a risk they wouldn't normally, he'd imagine there could be unfortunate consequences following shortly thereafter.
no subject
"So what's the deal with these cakes then? They do some weird things?" He's just leaning on the table now and looking over the man before him. The snake on his neck is pretty cool, not as cool as a beetle but maybe this guy might like beetles if he likes snakes.
no subject
Explaining what they do, well, now that's a whole other thing entirely. “The chocolate and spice ones make you, ah, less inhibited? The lemon makes you cheerful and the vanilla makes you overly affectionate.” As he's clarifying, the little horned snake unwinds itself, leaving just most of its tail around his neck and stretching out toward Itto, large eyes unblinking. What is she doing? Who knows, but she's staring nevertheless, almost looking expectant. “If you're really hungry, I have other food to share. Things that won't cause any problems.”
no subject
"Whoa so I could have been inhibited? Whatever that means sounds awful. Thanks for looking out for me. Hey, what's your name? When I go back home you should totally join my gang. I'm the leader of the Arataki Gang" He stood up at that, all 6'3 of him towering over the other man. Brushing off some crumbs off his very exposed chest he pointed to himself, a grin on his face. "Arataki Itto's my name, the One and Oni." He ran a clawed hand over the snake, smile still on his face. "So, about that food. You got any nearby?"

arrival/lobby
If someone measured how far she jumped in that moment, she's certain she could have set some records. A kick sent the bug flying, but her heart was already racing by then.
"Sweet sacred stars, what in the Goddess' name was that?"
Re: arrival/lobby
There was a scream and then he saw Crimson Cyclone fly by his vision. He quickly shoved the rest of the cake into his mouth and ran to his little bug fellow. Picking him up he cradled him in his arms and looked to the one who had kicked him.
It was a woman, a very curvy woman with killer legs. He was a bit stunned before he headed over to her, swallowing the last of the cake in his mouth. "Whoa you got a nasty kick there! I've never seen anyone use their legs like that! I'm Arataki Itto the one and Oni, who are you?" He leaned down and got in her space a bit, his DTF crawling over his arm and onto his shoulder.
no subject
"I'm Dorothea. Now... wait, do you mean to tell me you've never seen anyone kick before?" Also could he really not say the word 'only'? What was going on here?
no subject
"Well Dorothea what do you say about joining my gang? There is only me here so I guess it's just Itto of the Arataki gang right now but I'd be happy to let you in." He gave a wink at her, still in her space though he did move back a bit to give her a clawed hand. "What d'ya say?"
no subject
"Sorry, but I'm not joining your gang. I'm an opera singer," and a decorated military general, but she wasn't mentioning that, "not a gangster. You'll have to look somewhere else to find someone."
no subject
"Y'know you're really pretty. You kinda remind me a bit of this lady back home, Miss Hina. She's wow, she's the best. She gives great advice and is so kinda and I read all her stuff! I'm like totally her biggest fan." He's looking her over and very obviously staring at her chest for a moment. Yeah Dorothea was a ringer for Miss Hina, all she needed was an outfit change and a ear and tail.
