TDM #6
Welcome! Everything is fine.
Uploading. . . Complete!
The Lobby.
- When you open your eyes, there is quite a lot of beige to take in. The unassuming walls of the room you've found yourself in are barren save for a single motivational poster directly in your line of sight. An illuminated sign above an open door on the far wall reads 'lobby exit.'
"Welcome," chimes a polite, synthesized voice. "I'm happy you're here." A moment later comes the clarity of the situation: you have died and so has the world you came from. "This is Amani, your new reality," continues The Peacekeeper. "Everything will be fine."
At least you aren't the only one here, you'll soon find out, as others who are just as confused and concerned as you are mingling on the main hub's first floor. Hopefully, you find a familiar face among the crowd. If not, that's all right. You'll get to know quite a few people very well soon enough.
- If you're one of the unlucky few whose death required a bit more intensive re-coding to maintain stability in the simulation, you'll instead awaken on a bed in the infirmary. Everything is strikingly white save for the occasional string of vines with lavender growing in bursts to help keep people calm. Whether or not it works seems to be on a case-by-case basis.
While there is active medical staff, the voice of The Peacekeeper is also there to explain the situation in a more delicate manner to these individuals. It's already stressful enough having to have gone through such a violent death, after all!
If characters want more questions answered, they'll need to speak to The Peacekeeper directly. But first, it will encourage socialization in the main hub and hopefully, you'll find someone you recognize to make taking things in a little easier.
- Throughout the main hub where everyone congregates, a light chiming echoes through the first floor. "Hello, everyone," comes the synthetic voice from when you first arrived. "Please, watch your step since there a few tremors happening. If you'd like, there is cake and some refreshments."

WHAT'S YOUR DTF STATUS?
If the main hub and its features don't appeal to you, that's perfectly fine. This is the perfect time to configure your Digitized Technical Friend or your DTF status. A DTF is similar to a dæmon from His Dark Materials in that it is connected to and a reflection of a character's soul. These DTFs take shape accordingly and are projections similar to the NPCs. Think of them as your own personal Clippy except less annoying. Hopefully.Once that's set-up, there are other locations of the main hub to investigate! You can visit the training grounds, music lounge, library, and onsen. Also, feel free to leave an offering for the resident deity of sleep (Hypnos) at his shrine! You can even visit The Peacekeeper themselves on the second floor. They're always happy to have visitors! They're also conveniently where you might place a complaint about that status of the main hub and its amenities. Even if you do complain, The Peacekeeper will encourage others to set off and find their own place to live out in the simulation.
Granted, the housing market in the afterlife isn't exactly robust. It doesn't help that every place you find has a leaky roof or broken window. No, unfortunately that will need to be fixed the peaceful way. If you'd like more lighting or even cozier clothes, simulation inhabitants are reminded that 'peaceful interactions' are very important!
It might be a good idea to stick close to someone you know, for now, since even the smallest amounts of intimacy might see subtle changes occurring where they're staying. Perhaps that broken window is now fixed, the grime and dust seem a little less, or the floor doesn't creak quite as loud.
Larger changes, however, will only come after demonstrating the more powerful peaceful interactions. If you want new hardwood floors or a fresh coat of paint on the walls, you're going to have to demonstrate how well you 'get along' with others against them first.
SHAKING THINGS UP
"Hello, inhabitants," greets The Peacekeeper. "I apologize for all the tremors lately in the simulation," it starts, just as one rattles through the setting. "I promise I'll be done working soon." They've been occurring for days now but have been nothing more than a subtle rumbling.
Until now.
"Making final geographical adjustments... Please, hold on to something." There is less than a moment's pause before the warning needs to be heeded. A large earthquake suddenly jostles the entire simulation harshly along with a deafening noise to the east; however, the cause will be apparent. Where before there was nothing but plains stretching out infinitely past the simulation's 'barrier,' there is now a large mountain range. It has snow-tipped peaks, plenty of pine trees, and- "After the trial that was Hiromitsu, The Creators decided to allow me the resources to upgrade and add to the simulation! This is only the beginning, actually, but the rest will take a little bit more time. Until then, I hope you don't mind exploring the mines and helping me test some new features."
There is a brief pause where it seems like that might be all. "And I hope that... it makes up a little for me not being there for you during Hiromitsu." The usual chipper, simulated voice sounds just a touch melancholy. Instead of the regular chimes to signify a broadcast ending, there is instead a small click and nothing but silence.

THIS PLACE ROCKS
For those that do decide to investigate the new addition to the simulation, they'll find a sign above a large cave entrance that reads "Dymuniad Mines." Entering the cave will lead people to a series of underground tunnels akin to a labyrinth with as many metaphorical twists and turns as there are literal. Don't mind the mild tremors that continue as some of the pathways shift and change while The Peacekeeper works. They are now, thankfully, localized to just the mines.
So grab a torch, go for a joy ride in a mine cart, or set out on foot through the deep dark. Either way, here's what inhabitants can expect to find...
Hemimorphite
Population: Common
Biome: Dymuniad Mines
Danger: Mild
This strange, soft-looking rock formation draws people in with a sweet scent similar to cotton candy. The closer someone draws to it, the happier they will become. Should one lick it, they will find that it tastes rather sweet; however, it will leave one with more than a candy aftertaste. It is a psychedelic that will cause hallucinations - both visual and auditory - as well as intense feelings of euphoria.
Honey Calcite
Population: Common
Biome: Dymuniad Mines
Danger: Mild
If feeling one's way along the dark tunnels, don't be surprised if there comes a spot where you suddenly stick. Trying to pull away will only find one even more stuck than before. The only way to pull free is by using heat but too hot and it'll become a sticky, syrupy mess and be a nightmare to get off. The body heat of two people seems to be just right the temperature to free anyone stuck but... make of that what you will!
Iris Agate
Population: Common
Biome: Dymuniad Mines
Danger: None
If you get a little lost in the mines, don't fret! This stone will guide your way when shone under the light correctly. Oh, it won't show you the way out. Rather, it will guide you toward someone you need to talk to. Whatever that may mean! You'll be directed towards them whether you want to actually speak or not.
Miniature Cave Golems
Population: Common
Biome: Dymuniad Mines
Danger: None
Don't be too alarmed if that mossy bundle of rocks starts to move about. Held together and animated by a magic of an unknown origin, these tiny golems 'awaken' when anyone gets close. While golems are usually used for manual labor too large for the average person, it's hard to say what these miniature ones were made for or by who. They are, however, extremely cute and will happily follow or ride along with you through the tunnels.
Rock Slimes
Population: Common
Biome: Dymuniad Mines
Danger: None
If you happen to come across small bites taken out of the Hemimorphite, the source likely isn't far behind. These slimes are immune to the psychedelic effects of the formation but still get the euphoria from it. This results in them making tiny chirps and happy noises that may sound suspiciously like 'woo hoo' or 'yay.' They are friendly and docile but can only survive in the dark, dank conditions of the mines. Trying to remove them is ill-advised.
Zubats
Population: Common
Biome: Dymuniad Mines
Danger: Mild
These creatures make their home in gloomy caves. Atrophied eyes have left this Pokémon blind, so they scan their surroundings via sound waves that they emit from their mouths as they fly. Their skin is so thin that they'll be burned if sunlight hits them. When it gets cold out, they gather together to warm one another's bodies. While they will not attack inhabitants, they may use high-pitched sound waves to confuse and disorient if they feel threatened so they can escape.

CREEPY CRAWLIES
In addition to the new geology, there is some new fauna to be found. The Peacekeeper is still adding to the mines as far as flora (beyond basic moss, mushrooms, and other fungi). For now, these creatures hopefully help it feel a little more alive.Miniature Cave Golems

WHO IS THAT I SEE, STARING BACK AT ME?
Lucky (or unlucky, if you're lost) inhabitants may find their way to the crystal lake. This large, underground pool of crystalline water is lined with large chunks of cubic fluorite and larimar covering the bottom. It holds an ethereal glow although there doesn't seem to be anything out of the ordinary that would cause the shine.
If one goes to the edge of the water, their reflection might not be what they expect. Instead of what it should be, it's instead what the person looking into the water most desires. This could be interpreted in many different ways. Do you look like you'd always dreamed of, is someone next to you, or is it someone else entirely staring back into your eyes? Whatever the case may be, it isn't always easy to be faced with our most secret desires unexpectedly.

SEXY STAMP CARD
If you're wondering about these 'peaceful interactions' that keep being mentioned or what the kinks of the month are for... Here's your answer! Upon arrival, all characters will receive a digital copy of their very own sexy stamp card.
Completing peaceful interactions (i.e. kinks) will reward characters with stamps that they can turn in for re-gains and many other things! While the example one here is the standard issued card by The Peacekeeper, players are more than welcome to customize it how they see fit. Have fun with it!NOTES

★ Due to the shifting tunnels, characters will only find themselves eventually back at the start of the mines rather than anywhere new. ...For now, anyway!
★ The effects of all the influences can, as always, be as heavy or light as you'd like! It can be chalked up to differences in resistance, non-humanity or not, etc. etc.
★ The flora and fauna page will be updated (as well as the locations) as soon as possible to reflect these changes and recent ones! It's also still open for player suggestions! All you need to do now is link your check-in (or player claim) comment to make a submission!
★ Why not check out the ATP/EMP Meme now up? See who others want to try out, enable your friends! Fun all around!

Itto's looking down at where Sizhui's cleaning him off and the touch feels nice, weird he usually doesn't care too much about being touched. He shrugs it off for now, no use thinking on that. He is very pleased to be hearing his full title however, it feels good to hear his name. Honestly everything kind of feels good. "So this cabin of yours, how far is it from here and are there any places we can explore along the way?" He keeps playing with the snake, leaning down a little to stick out his own forked tongue. "What's this ones name?"
no subject
Initially, he thinks he's done something wrong, touching someone else without permission, but Itto doesn't reprimand him or attempt pulling away so maybe it's alright? (Sorry for your cake mishap, Itto, but at least it wasn't chocolate?) His own posture relaxes further, a quiet hum of contemplation passing his lips then, “It's a decent walk, but yes, there are other places to check out along the way.” The snake continues nuzzling Itto's hand, straightening up only after he crouches down and sticks his tongue out, her own tongue sticking further out in turn. Sizhui blinks once, twice, staring for a bit too long at Itto's mouth before he forces himself to turn away. “Her name is Xiaoyun, which means ‘little cloud’.”
no subject
"Xiaoyun, this is Crimson Cyclone only the toughest and bestest beetle in all beetle battling. Just wait once we find an opponent for him he's gonna wipe the floor with his sick moves!" Itto's smile was so big and genuine it was hard not to smile around him. He exuded sunshine. "So, my dude Sizhui wanna lead the way to your place?" He arched a dark eyebrow, his look a little suggestive but he truly didn't mean anything else by it.
no subject
He shifts his arm closer, letting the snake wind its tail around his forearm as she leans forward and boops her nose against the beetle's horn before speaking, “𝐻𝒾 𝓉𝒽𝑒𝓇𝑒, 𝒞𝓇𝒾𝓂𝓈𝑜𝓃 𝒞𝓎𝒸𝓁𝑜𝓃𝑒, 𝒾𝓉'𝓈 𝒶 𝓅𝓁𝑒𝒶𝓈𝓊𝓇𝑒 𝓉𝑜 𝓂𝑒𝑒𝓉 𝓎𝑜𝓊! 𝐼 𝒷𝑒𝓉 𝒽𝑒 𝓌𝒾𝓁𝓁 𝒹𝑜 𝑔𝓇𝑒𝒶𝓉, 𝒽𝑒 𝓁𝑜𝑜𝓀𝓈 𝓋𝑒𝓇𝓎 𝓈𝓉𝓇𝑜𝓃𝑔.” Surprising no one, Sizhui does smile again, warmed by the sweet interaction and just Itto's whole demeanor. He does wonder, offhandedly, if this is the cake's doing as to why he's always so bright, yet he's not about to dispute it when everything's going so well at the moment. As questionable as that eyebrow raise is, Sizhui's shifting and sidestepping to stand beside Itto instead, offering his arm in a particular way that either it or his hand can be grabbed. “Let's get going then, shall we?” And whether Itto accepts or not, he will happily go right on ahead and start guiding them out of the main hub.
no subject
Crimson Cyclone nudged the snake in exchange with his horn in it's own greeting. "He has....good stamina" Itto almost dropped CC when he heard it speak. "You can talk?!?" He'd been speaking to his beetle for a good hour prior to meeting Sizhui and it had never said a word till now. "This is so cool! Now I really do got a little buddy with me." His excitement over his talking beetle only was interrupted when the hand and arm were offered to him. He took Sizhui's hand in his larger one and squeezed it. "Yeah! Let's go exploring!"
no subject
She giggles in return, withdrawing and straightening momentarily before bending, twisting and sliding her way over Sizhui's hand, back into the sleeve of his robe. He casts his attention to the beetle when it speaks, the faintest blush creeping across his cheeks at the inclination. Well, we'll keep that in mind for later, won't we? Instead of mentioning it, Sizhui grins at Itto's enthusiasm for his new talking companion, plainly delighted by such an excited reaction toward something he should've known— but in Itto's defense, Crimson Cyclone hadn't immediately spoken like Xiaoyun had to him. Once his hand is taken, his smile widens somewhat, he squeezes Itto's fingers with his own then nods. “There won't be too much to explore on the way to my home, but if you'd like, we could see other places later too?”
no subject
"That's okay. You can show me around Sizhui, my dude." He smiled and looked around, finding an exit not too far off. "So you got a home here and everything? That's pretty darn cool. I bet it's super nice and pretty like you."
no subject
“Indubitably,” his turn to giggle this time, free hand outstretching to push the door aside as he continues leading them along. “Yes, I do, and you could have one too! All you must do is pick out whichever place you want and you can use stamps to rebuild.” A beat of silence follows Itto's compliment then he sheepishly dips his head, “Well, uhm, it's not quite as nice as I'd like it to be yet? But you're sweet, calling me ‘pretty’...” Because he doesn't think so, and still people keep telling him otherwise. “The flowers and seashells I've decorated with are lovely, though.”
no subject
"I can have my own house for free? this place is amazing. I'm not sure how to get stamps but if I can get stuff for no Mora I'm totally in." He looked around as they walked, taking everything in. "I'm not the best at keeping a job even though I have tried. I'm just not someone who can get tied down ya'know?"
no subject
And no, he's not at all bothered by the size difference between them. Actually, should they get into anything intimacy-shaped, Itto will quickly learn Sizhui likes that a lot, so it isn't surprising he has no qualms holding Itto's hand.
“You can! It's, ah... something, that's for certain.” Another moment's hesitation on Sizhui's end as he considers, but he figures why not just come right out with it? “Stamps are earned by participating in sexual activities with people.” Can't get much blunter, he'd think, even if he attempts to soften the blow by segueing into, “So, while you don't necessarily have to get a job, there are some you can apply for? If you want something to do with your free time.” Besides hooking up, anyway. (Also, he's not saying a single word about ‘tied down’, thank you very much.)
no subject
"Wait...I have to do sexual things to get stuff?" He's suddenly not feeling very confident and his smile starts to fade. "I...I'm not..um..." He blushes, looking completely away from Sizhui. "I've never...done that...any of that. I don't really ever...I just...I've kissed before but um.."He lets go of Sizhui's hand and covers his face. "I rather try and work for Mora then do that. Sizhui what am I gonna do?"
no subject
Oh gosh, he didn't mean to make Itto feel bad! As soon as the oni's expression falters, he springs into action, “Yes, it's just how things work here, but it's alright! You don't have to be worried.” Although, once Itto's got his face covered, Sizhui stops, about-faces, steps in front of him and reaches both hands to gingerly touch his forearms, fingertips rubbing soothingly across them. “Kissing is good, okay? That's something... and, uhm, I'm not opposed to helping if you'd like?” He does know a thing or two, after all, and it wouldn't be the first time he's had to help teach somebody.
no subject
He lowered his hands and looked at Sizhui, still pretty red in the face. The touch on his arms is soothing and really really nice. Sizhui's hands are so gentle. "You don't mind helping me? Do you think maybe we can try some on the train?" He lowered his hands completely until he could see all of Sizhui again. "I really do want to try the train ride, I've never been on one and I'd really like to maybe try stuff. I mean...I'm the one and oni so I gotta be the best right? No way to get better then practice!" He doesn't truly believe his own words but he honestly wouldn't mind with Sizhui.
no subject
Aw, look at him, so flushed and looking embarrassed! Not that Sizhui's judging, he still does the same thing when he's presented with such things, much like how he's doing now, considering Itto's just asked about experimenting on the train. He can feel the heat flooding his face, yet he's holding steady in front of Itto, lowering his hands to Itto's elbows as he brings his hands further down. “I don't mind,” Sizhui affirms, momentarily downcasting to their feet before he exhales a huff and upturns again, looking determined. “We can, if that's what you'd like, or we could just sit together and maybe try once we get to my home.” Regardless, it seems like they're choosing the train, so he slides his left hand up to take Itto's again, turning to begin guiding them toward it. “Let's get on the train, then we can decide what we'll do from there. How does that sound?” He tips his head, considering, his lips quirking faintly. “You are right, however, you can get better with practice.”
no subject
"Yeah it sounds amazing Sizhui my dude! We can ride on the train and just go with the flow. I like the way you think." He smiled and let Sizhui lead them around again. When they finally make it to the train Itto is practically bouncing in his step. He leaves Sizhui to run up to it, getting a good look around the train before making his way to Sizhui. "It's really streamlined ain't it? I don't think I've ever seen one like this before. I'm so excited to ride it! Do you think maybe we can grab some snacks for the ride?"
no subject
“Sometimes I have good ideas!” he snickers, briefly releasing Itto's hand again so he can move closer to the train and step up onto the tiny stairs that'll lead them inside. “Isn't it, though? There's nothing like this back on my homeworld, but Noctium – the place I was before coming here – they have some similarities to it.” On the steps, he waits, thoughtfully lifting an eyebrow at Itto's inquiry about snacks. “Haah...” Unless he wants more cake? His right arm lifts, left hand slipping into the oversized sleeve and withdrawing a couple of ziplock baggies full of shortbread cookies and small, round-shaped bread pieces. “I have these if they interest you?”
no subject
Its only a matter of minutes before Itto is back by the entrance and looking up at Sizhui on the raised platform. "Oh I never heard of Noctium but it's got a cool name to it. Maybe you can tell me about it?" While Itto isn't a big fan of learning new things and being lectured he does enjoy a good story and something tells him that his new companion is a good story teller.
His licks his lips when he sees the snacks. "They look delicious! C'mon lets find a seat and eat!" He is all but pushing Sizhui inside and dragging him to a nice secluded set of seats in the back. It's a sitting area for four but Itto is kinda a big guy so it gives him more leg room then the other spots. He takes one of the window seats and eagerly looks out the moment he's seated. "This is gonna be so fun!"
no subject
He fidgets with the plastic bags while waiting, allowing Itto all the time he needs to examine the train, his attention lifting and casting sideways toward the other man once he's returned. A wide, exuberant grin overtakes his features again, his head nodding in agreement. “Absolutely, I don't mind talking about it at all.” Itto's making a proper assumption, given most of his younger juniors are always asking Sizhui to tell them stories of his night-hunting or other such adventures he's gone out on; he weaves a pretty good tail too, if he were to say so himself, but of course he's not one to toot his own horn.
Before he hardly has a chance to react, Itto has joined him on the stairs, shuffled them inside and is now practically dragging him toward some of the seats, although he's laughing the whole time at Itto's enthusiasm. Once he's chosen, Sizhui sits beside him, glancing out the window as well, then he redirects and reaches for Itto's elbow to tug. “Here,” he offers the snacks, hoping they'll do alright despite one being just plain bread. “You're more than welcome to have as much as you like during our little adventure.”
no subject
He looked at his DTF and then at Sizhui and leaned forward, resting his arms on his knees. "So should we talk about that place you used to be at or um...should we talk about.....sex..." He said the last word a bit more softly then the rest.
no subject
Sizhui's eyebrows arch inquisitively, his expression softens and he outstretches a hand to rest it on Itto's shoulder. “We can talk about whatever you are most comfortable with. If you'd rather we not talk about the latter thing, I could talk about my home before this one and we'll see where we go from there.”
no subject
"So um... well.. I mean we could maybe do that thing for stamps...It would be nice to get more beetle bros for Crimson Cyclone to make friends with and such. I mean if you want to." He was blushing but he kept eating the cookies, practically stuffing his face.
no subject
A quiet, thoughtful hum comes first while he considers what exactly they could do while aboard a train, and as he thinks, he does wonder: should they wait until they've reached his cabin? Because performing in a somewhat small space might be burdensome... unless— “Actual intercourse may be difficult at the moment, but uhm.” Gods, his face is already red just thinking about it, but. “I could go down on you?”
no subject
He was so distracted by talk of lollipops that he hardly remembered what their previous conversation on train activities was about but something Sizhui said had him confused. "Wait, why would you go down on me? Did I drop something?"
no subject
Being as close as they are, it'd be impossible to ignore his blush or the sheepish way he averts his gaze again, and yet he tries his hardest to meet Itto's eyes before amending, “No, it means something else.” He rolls his lips, wondering exactly how he should explain himself, the faintest smile quirking his lips at the edges. That's terrible, he shouldn't say it, but now he's sort of obligated to make the joke, isn't he? “What if I said I wanted to suck you like a lollipop?” How ridiculous, and he's still smirking despite it.
no subject
He does perk up at the idea of Sizhui becoming an honorary member. "Sure! First ever honorary member of the Arataki Gang, Sizhui. I like the ring of that." He didn't mind their closeness and maybe it was the cake or his own need to be close to others that made this position comfortable to him. So Sizhui wanted to suck him like a lollipop, that was something he understood a lot better and it made him feel like he had bugs in his gut. He wasn't sure if he was excited or not but he knew he did want to know what that felt like. "Can you? I've never been used like a snack before, sounds fun."
