Lauriel blinks with shock for a moment as she feels The Doll’s lips beneath her thumb, pulling away and blinking curiously at the painted lips before she lets out a little giggle. She must be more tired than she thought, her thoughts hazy and blunted around the edges. She pulls her hands away a moment later, still blushing lightly as she sets them in her lap carefully, though she does not make the effort of shifting away from The Doll. Too much work, when it’s so nice to be close to her.
“Dolls were some of my first art projects, when I was young…” she admits softly, not willing to brush the doll off with a nothing answer when she’s let her put her fingers all over her. Reciprocity is important to her, give back what you have been given. “I would make them with spare metal and wood, spend hours shaping and aligning them. I learned a lot of skills doing that, until I grew up and had other responsibilities.” Her eyes darken, and she glances away briefly as she struggles with some internal memory. “Other things to make, that had to be more than beautiful.”
She shakes her head, and turns back to The Doll, listening carefully as though she was still talking. “I’m sorry your maker was… displeased, but it’s good that you found others to appreciate you. That’s the important part in my opinion, the work going on to make someone others day better.” Her eyes grow a little more hazy, and she leans in a little more, practically cuddling as she seems to struggle with something before she blinks and blushes again, letting out a small laugh. “Thank you, kind isn’t something I get to be quite often… it’s a pleasant change of pace.”
She’s responding to different parts of The Dolls speech, as though she had spoken them in reverse, she seems to shake herself out of it shortly, her eyes refocusing on The Doll, lingering on her hands again. “You said you try to welcome newcomers yes? What … what else do you do? What do you like to do I mean?”
