If only Astarion knew- perhaps he will, eventually- that Testament's proper airs only extend so far. They've been told their blood tastes rather nice by those who would fight them to lay claim to some of it.

"Wizards? Ah, how interesting. Are they commonplace in your world?" Testament appears to perk up at Astarion's mention and further explanation of his standard of magic. They tilt their head and nod thoughtfully.

"Blood magic is esoteric, is it? So you say there are others where you come from that...Have magic like my own?" That is a very strange thought, to the Gear. For so long their powers were seen as a unique abberation. They wonder if there might be something to learn from all this. Untold possibilities come with being in a crossroads of worlds. "I did not need to study to reach my power. When I awoke, reborn against my will, I merely had to tap into the new instincts. That being said, I became curious about the hows and whys later, and pursued all manner of magical study in a bid to understand how I worked. Alas, my forays into dimensional magic did not bear fruit towards that, but I certainly learned some invaluable skills."

They also took countless lives. But that's not a detail they particularly wish to mention to anyone.
