Joshua's brows lift upon hearing the length of time that lies between Elidibus' point and this other man's. "I take it your people are extremely long-lived, then - at least, compared to an ordinary human lifespan. How vexing it must be, to know that another holds firsthand knowledge of your future - or to be the one who knows it, for that matter."
He thinks for a moment. "I believe I may already have encountered someone from my world who has come from my past, a man named Barnabas Tharmr. He did not seem to understand how I knew what I did of him, when the reason should have been obvious. But what to do with such knowledge?"
He thinks, too, about Dion's theory. If this place really is of Ultima's design, what would he gain from Barnabas' ignorance? Or are there parts of this simulation that lie outside of Ultima's control?
Joshua nods in sympathy. "A kind of frustration with which I am well familiar, and one that I will no doubt share with you in time. But tell me - this man whose memories have fallen behind yours, have you told him what you know of what is to come?"
