As Cid points out, though, there is nothing else to get absorbed in right now unless it be sleep, and if he falls asleep, his flames will likely go out. No, he needs to sustain them until the danger is past, which means...he does need something to keep him alert and occupied. And Cid is far from unattractive, and so important to Clive besides - which means he can be trusted.
