"Stupid." But there's a heaviness to Gladio's voice, not anger. "You know I can't treat this like some damn joke, even if you want to."
A comedian needs to read the audience, Nyx.
He abruptly tugs Nyx in to a crushing one-armed hug. The simple fact is that...he doesn't really know what else to do. What else is there to do? What can he say? Nyx's sacrifice - and sacrifice it was, Gladio doesn't need it spelled out any plainer even if Nyx keeps hedging around actually saying the words - may well have been the only way Lunafreya and the Ring could ever have gotten out of Insomnia. Gladio doesn't doubt the odds were low and the options were few. Just as Ignis may only have been able to save Noct by using the Ring and losing his sight...Gladio may hate its necessity with every fiber of his being, but he can't act like it wasn't a necessity. And to take his own grief and rage out on the victims would be as cruel as it was pointless.
Can he do anything at all, except be grateful that somehow he's ended up seeing Nyx again despite his being dead?

"I'm sorry," he mutters near his ear.
