Claude takes a few minutes deciding on the cake thing, watching a few other people make their decisions first. The spice cake seems particularly popular, which is exactly why he picks something else. It's not entirely contrarian, though that's part of it. He just figures, well, why not do something different and see where it leads? Sweet things aren't exactly his first choice, but it seems rude to refuse.
So he picks the chocolate cake. Eventually, when someone comes up to him, they might notice he's picked the raspberries off of it and left them on the side of his plate.
He'll offer one up with a suggestive smile. "Figured I might save the best for last, but you look like you could use a pick me up."
B; spice
Despite absolutely knowing better, and knowing he's probably only supposed to get one piece anyway, Claude finds a way back to the bar later and nabs a different piece. After that absolute mess with the chocolate cake, he can't help but wonder what the others do. Curiosity is going to do him in, sure, but how else is he going to figure out how this place works? Obviously the answer is experience, right?
Well, an easier answer is probably just ask some people what they think about the cake, but that would also lead to experiencing the effects. And this seems like something he's probably better off using himself as a guinea pig for rather than a stranger. Maybe some of that lowered inhibitions thing stuck around, whatever.
Either way, the second time around he goes for the spice cake, this time because it was so popular. What was all the fuss about, anyway?
After he's had that, he'll be likely to grab someone's hand.
"There's too much of this place I haven't seen yet. I could use some company if you wanna check it out with me." It's not exactly a come on. Unless…?
HOME AWAY FROM HOME
Whether or not anyone takes him up on his, er, spicy invitation, eventually Claude will go trying to explore, get some answers from the Peacekeeper. Surely that bit about things being destroyed back home can't be true? Okay, he's putting that info in his back pocket. For now, learning what he can about this place seems prudent.
Catch him at the edge of the pool, where he says, "You know, this isn't very well kept. I'd be worried about catching some kinda disease from that thing, wouldn't you?" He's clearly joking, but if that bright smile doesn't quite reach his eyes, don't worry about it.
He may slide up to you at the bar, where he slips onto a stool next to someone with an exaggerated sigh, saying, "Boy, I really hope whatever they're serving here isn't as fraught as that whole cake business. There's only so much of that I can put up with!" loud enough for anyone nearby to hear.
Or just catch him wherever, where he'll start a conversation with, "Peaceful interactions, huh? Wonder what qualifies, outside of the totally obvious euphemistic options."
