Sephiroth shakes his head. "I don't know that I'd be a suitable owner, even if I learned how to care for one. And...without knowing if these creatures will even continue to exist once the rain stops, getting overly attached to them might be foolish. Do you have plans to make a pet of any of these animals?"

Truth be told, Sephiroth is wary of getting attached to a cat - or anything - that might vanish in short order. He's been left behind often enough in his life. To voluntarily risk experiencing feelings of loss for an animal by developing any deeper attachment when he doesn't have to...it seems like a risk with a very real possibility of no reward at all.
