Zechs was a soldier, through and through, but trained as a commander. And since he had his own goals during the war, had to hide his true identity and motives, he’d learned subterfuge and tactics right alongside the ability to kill. Plotting with Treize, piloting Wing ZERO and Epyon, these only encouraged those traits.
